New & Improved Kitchen

I just spent the last 2 hours putting together my new kitchen. This involved assembling the microwave cart (which was pretty easy, except I wasn't able to screw the top on. Oh well.) Then I took everything out of my kitchen and swept and mopped the floor. Then I took all the burners and thingys off the stove and scoured those. Then I washed all the pots and pans that needed washing. Then I wiped down all the counters, re-arranged stuff on the counters, and finally I brought back a few items that I had taken out to mop. The rest of it (boxes, old rusty folding chair, a bag of misc. bags that I never use) is getting thrown away. My kitchen has never been this clean! Well, maybe on the day I first moved in. LOL.

Here is the finished product. I'm very happy. It makes my kitchen seem so much bigger to have all of that free counter space. Yay!

My plans for the rest of the day include cleaning the bathroom, taking a shower, doing 2 loads of laundry, taking some of this junk down to my car and possibly running up to the store to get some hamburger buns and beer.

Phew. I'm exhaused already just typing all that out. Maybe I'll take a nap instead. heh.

Oh! And when I went to Target to buy the microwave cart, they had that laundry basket on wheels that I wanted but was supposedly only available online. And it was $5 cheaper. Woot!

It is so sad that things like that excite me. :)

Mood swings

I'm assuming it's the medicine. I don't know. I feel like these days I'm blaming every little odd thing that's wrong with me on the medicine. But hey, it's messing with my brain, right? It's supposed to. Supposed to make my brain happier. Or some shit. I don't know.

The other medicines made me numb. I didn't feel happy, but I didn't feel sad either. This one is totally different. I can go from sad to mad to happy in .02 seconds flat. And the emotions are so intense!
I cry at everything. I've always been a crier. I'm an emotional person. But it had been a long long time since I cried like I have these past 2 weeks. Horrible, gut wrenching sobs. Tears that take over my whole body and all I want to do is make them stop, but I can't.
And the anger. I'm not used to the anger. Last weekend I got so mad that I actually started throwing things and pounding on the walls. That is not me. I don't do stuff like that. Ever.
But the happiness. Ah, the happiness. Sometimes I feel happy. And good. And I think that maybe things are finally turning around for me. Sometimes I think the medicine is starting to work.
But it never lasts. The sadness always comes back.

I'm so sick of it all. I'm so tired. I want it to be over.

Regina Spektor

I bought her cd last week from Amazon.com. I had only heard one of her songs (Fidelity, which I lvoe!) but the cd was only $7 so I gave it a shot. And now? I am addicted. There is this one song that I cannot stop singing. I listen to it at least 3x a day. I'll probably be sick of it real soon. Heh.

Apres Moi
I must go on standing
You can't break that which isn't yours
I must go on standing
I'm not my own, It's not my choice

Be afraid of the lame, they'll inherit your legs
Be afraid of the old, they'll inherit your souls
Be afraid of the cold, they'll inherit your blood
Apres moi le deluge, after me comes the flood

Fevral dostat chernil i plakat
Pisat o fevral navzryd
Poka grohochushaya slyakot
Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit.

A few more listens, and I should be speaking fluent Russian. LOL!

The live performance video is pretty good, but I think you should all go hear the album version. And actually, you can listen to the entire cd on Regina's website. It has this cool little media player. If you want to skip to Apres Moi, it's track 7. Check it out. :)

Hi.

I'm drinking red wine. I never drink red wine. I'm not sure if I like it. It's kinda dry. 'Course that hasn't stopped me from drinking half the bottle. *snort*

I went to Big Lots tonight. I spent an insane amount of money, especially for Big Lots. But I'm happy with the things I got. I think. I can't remember everything I bought. It's all still down in the trunk of my car because I had other stuff to bring up to my apartment when I got home and I didn't feel like making 2 trips. The things I'm most excited about? Gee, guess. Give up? Yeah, it's make-up. I bought yet another palette of browns. A girl can never have too much brown eyeshadow. *grin* I also bought some Revlon Colorstay mascara. I'm anxious to try it because I've heard the Colorstay stuff is supposed to be good. I have been loyal to my Maybelline Full 'N Soft mascara for awhile now, but hey, the Revlon stuff was only $2. :)
Other purchases include: new mini-blinds for my bedroom, rubber floor mats for my car so my new ones don't get all yucky with snow gunk, a new broom and mop (as if I clean my kitchen. ha!), shampoo/conditioner, liquid hand soap, kleenex, oven mitts, hangers... ummm, that's all I can remember right now.

I still have more shopping to do. I really, really need a microwave cart for my kitchen. I have no counter space anymore. I've found a fairly cheap one at Target, but I'm not sure yet if it will fit my microwave or not. I also want to buy this Rubbermaid laundry basket with wheels on it.. much easier to tote down to the laundry room or to my mom's house. But, the thing is, Target doesn't appear to sell it in the stores. It says it's only available online, and I am not paying $12 for shipping when the thing only costs $20 to begin with. Pffft.

Wow. Fascinating post, isn't it?

Edited to add some pics of my kitchen. :) I remember saying on someone's blog (Swami's?) that I would post a pic showing how little counter space I had. So here they are.

First, a full view of my kitchen. Tiny, isn't it?

The next 2 pics are close-ups of the only usable counter space that I have. It's ridiculous. No wonder I never bother to cook anything. There's nowhere to work! Need.kitchen.cart.

Yeah, that's the Egg & Muffin toaster in the middle there. I know you're all so jellus. *grin*

Friday Ramblings

We interrupt this blog post to squeal about how we have the bestest Valentine EVAH! I just got a very special package delivered to me- full of candy, yummy smelling bath stuff, and jewelry!! I love it. And I love my Valentine. She's the best. *dreamy sigh*

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog post...

I know not many people read my blog anymore, but I have been feeling like updating more lately. So...

-It's frickin' freezing in here, Mr. Bigglesworth. Brrrr! We discovered yesterday that there was a huge gas leak in our building here at work. Apparently, whoever installed the gas lines is a total moron, and everything is all screwed up. I heard the guy from the gas company say that it's like we've been sitting on a bomb. Nice. So, he shut the gas off and we've been without heat since yesterday afternoon. And it's *checks weather.com* 8 degrees here with a wind chill of -5. I'm sure last night the wind chill was in the -teens. I have a space heater under my desk, but it's not doing much to keep my fingers warm. And I can't type with my gloves on, so I'm pretty much SOL. I hope the guy gets here soon and gets everything fixed up.

-My sister found out the sex of the baby earlier this week. It's another boy. We're all kind of bummed. Tate was really hoping for a little sister, and Amy has always wanted a girl. But as long as he is healthy, I know we will be overjoyed when he gets here. :)

-For X-Mas, my mom bought me this:

She always feels the need to buy some weird kitchen appliance for me and my sister for X-Mas. Previous years have included a pizza stone and a cookie press. I was kind of excited about this breakfast sandwich maker though because I loooooove the Sausage and Egg McMuffin from McDonald's so much. I hadn't opened this until a couple weeks ago... and I find that I am fascinated by it. The taste is not as good as McDonald's, but for the ease and convenience, I am loving it. I pop in an English Muffin, break an egg, throw a pre-cooked sausage patty on, and in minutes I have my very own breakfast sandwich. I love it. Yay Mom!

-I'm on my 3rd attempt at a different anti-depressant now. None of the others have worked. I've only been on this one for a few days, so I'm not sure yet if this one will be any different. If this doesn't work, I don't know if I'll bother to try another one. All that I've gotten from this experience is frustration, side effects, and a dent in my wallet.

-My mom is re-doing her kitchen and my Uncle Dave is doing all the installation for her. It will be nice to have him up here for a few weekends. I love my Uncle Dave, he reminds me so much of my dad.

-On Kimmah's reccomendation, I ordered some free samples from Everyday Minerals. I think I might like them better than BMs, and they're cheaper. Yay!

-I think I have more stuff to write, but my mind is drawing a blank. Maybe my brain is freezing. Check back for additions later. Maybe once we get the heat fixed and my brain thaws, I'll have more to say.

Pics!

I haven't been doing very well the past few days, but I don't wanna talk about that crap. Instead, I bring you pictures from my night o' fun that I got from Roberta. Yay! :)

This is me and Tracy. I know I've talked about her a lot, but I don't think I've ever posted a pic of her. We've been best friends since 10th grade.

Here is a pic of Roberta (Tracy's sister) Amanda and Stacy (friends of Roberta) with our waiter Mikey. Isn't he cute? He was so nice. We lvoed Mikey.

This was the hostess of the evening. I can't remember her name right now. I'm drawing a blank. Huh. Anyway, this outfit eventually came off. She was the only girl to get naked. It was quite fascinating. I kept trying to see some *ahem* "stuff", but she hid it very well. LOL. Or maybe she had the surgery. Not sure. Heh.

This is Jamie Lynn wearing a very cool leopard outfit. They must've used some heavy duty glue!

Here is another one of the ladies, Akasha, with Jamie Lynn. Isn't it amazing how pretty they are??

Here is the drag king, Zak. He was awesome. :)

These next few pictures are of the girl who was leaving the club that night. In the last pic, she was lip-synching to some really pretty song about saying goodbye. You can see at the bottom of the pic the girl who was bawling her eyes out, who in turn made me cry! LOL.

I hope all this formatting turns out correctly. What a pain in the aras! (*waves to Boo*)

To my Valentine

I figure this deserves it's own post. :)

I wanted to send out some special love to Tab, who has (as corny as it sounds) made Valentine's Day much more bearable for me this year. Just knowing that I had someone I could call "Valentine" and send little presents to, made me not feel so bad for not having a boyfriend.

Thank you for your friendship and support, and for all the laughs, Valentine. I love you to pieces. *besa*

And Happy Valentine's Day to all my bloggy friends, who make life in general a little more bearable. I love you all, too. *smoooooooooches*

So.Much.Fun!

Tonight I went with Tracy, her sister and a bunch of her sister's friends to dinner and a show. A drag show! :D OMG, it was such an awesome time. I loved it.

I really was not feeling good earlier in the day. I got totally shitfaced on Friday night (*waves to Tab*) and I was suffering a major hangover today. I didn't go to bed until about 5am, I woke up at noon and felt like absolute shit. So I went back to bed. I got up again at 3:30 and still felt like absolute shit. So I went back to bed. Heh. I finally got up at 5:30 when it was time for me to start getting ready. I honestly didn't know if I'd be able to make it. I was sooo sick and just exhausted. (I didn't throw up though. Go me.) I drank a couple huge glasses of water, took some aspirin and jumped in the shower. That made me feel a little bit better. By the time I did my makeup and got dressed, I was feeling ok. I was wearing my brand new outfit that I bought the other day and feeling like I looked pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Tracy came and picked me up at 7, and we drove downtown. Her sister and friends showed up a few minutes later, and we all went into the restaurant (it is a combo restaurant/bar/club) and got some drinks and food. I had a white pizza (olive oil, garlic and cheese). It was pretty damn yummy. The crust was sooo good. I also had 3 beers and a pitcher of strawberry margaritas. *grin* Our waiter was awesome. He was totally cute and really nice and we all loved him. Mikey. LVOE Mikey! :)

We had a bunch of time to kill since the club didn't open until 11, so we just all sat around and talked and watched the videos that were playing in the bar. It was a really cool place. Oh, and I went outside with one of Roberta's friends (Roberta is Tracy's sister) and I bummed a smoke from her. Bad Jen. Heh.

We got VIP treatment since we were such a huge group of people and someone had called ahead and planned everything out. All of our tables were "reserved" and when we finally went into the club where the show was happening, we found out that we also had reserved seating right next to the stage! It was awesome. It was a really tiny little club, with a small stage and some tables set up around it. There was also an upper level where people could stand and watch.

I wasn't really sure what to expect, seeing as I'd never been to a drag show before, but from the moment the hostess stepped out onto the stage, I knew I was going to have a blast. There were about 5-6 performers who danced and lip synced. It was very much like a strip club, with people waving dollar bills around for the performers to go and get. Yes, I was one of them. *big grin* I only had like 5 singles, so I blew those pretty quickly. All of the performers were drag queens, except for one drag king. He was fucking awesome. I loved him. So energetic and fun, and when I was holding my dollar up in the air he came over and held my hand and danced for me a little bit before he took the money. I was a little turned on. LOL!

The show lasted for about 90 minutes, with each person performing 2 or 3 times. It was one of the "ladies" last nights there, and I got emotional because I saw one of the girls in the crowd bawling her eyes out during the her last dance. I started crying too! LOL. I can't let someone cry alone. :)

I really want to go back soon. Next time, I will be sure to bring my camera and more singles. *grin*

PS- I have totally changed my mind about the songs I posted below. They crack me up now. *snort*

Losing friends

I had a completely different post planned out for my next entry (which is now saved in my drafts) but I felt that this one was more important. Lately, I feel as though I'm losing my friends. My best friends. The ones that I thought would be with me for a long time to come. Maybe I was naive. Maybe when they said we'd be "friends forever" they didn't really mean it. I don't know. I've tried to reach out as much as I can. I don't know if it's enough. I want that closeness we once had. I want my best friends back.
I know we're all going through hard times right now, but isn't that when we should be the closest? When we need each other the most? I feel so lost right now. I wish I still had my friends to turn to, but I feel guilty bogging them down with my problems when I know they are dealing with their own issues.

*sigh*
Whatever. I just felt the need to say this.
If our friendships are strong enough to last, they will. Regardless, I love my friends with all my heart.

WTF?

I'm so confused. What is happening to music?
I listen to an alternative rock station. They play artists such as The Killers, Incubus, Green Day, Snow Patrol, etc. There has been a disturbing trend lately of playing songs that don't belong on this station at all. They belong on a techno/dance music station. Now, some of these songs/artists I actually like (Gorrilaz, for example). Some of them make me change the channel instantly (The Chemical Brothers, for example). But this new "artist" that they have been playing? My word. I don't even know what to say. I think I'll let the "music" speak for itself.

Kelly-Shoes

Kelly-Let Me Borrow That Top (Pay no attention to the video for this one. YouTube users made a bunch of different versions. They're all awful. So, I guess they do kinda go with the song. Heh.)

These songs are so confusing to me. Are they supposed to be serious? Are they total gags? I will admit to laughing at the "Let Me Borrow That Top" one a couple times, but for the most part I sit in a dumbfounded state whenever I hear these played on the radio because I can't figure out WTF they are, or why anyone would play them. Judging from some of the YouTube comments, I gather that "Kelly" is really a guy named Liam who is a "comedian" and puts out these "songs". Why they are being played on my radio station is beyond me.

Am I getting old? Do kids these days think this is awesome music? I always thought that I would be able to keep up with the latest music trends as I got older, but if this is where music is going I think I'll just stick to what I know and like.

My head hurts now.

So...

Do people know when they're going insane, or are they never aware of it and they just think they're perfectly normal?

Because I feel like I'm going insane. But if I can recognize that, maybe that means I'm normal.

You know?

*rips out own hair*

So much for that idea

Pffft. Assholes. I was going to sign up for audioblogger so that I could do my Blogger Idol, only to find out that they discontinued the service in November! I'm bummed. It would've been fun to do. *sigh*

In other news, someone on my floor is apparently cooking a shitload of bacon. The smell is wafting into my apartment. I don't eat bacon very often, but it sure does smell good. *stomach grumble*

I'm watching Tate later on today. Yay! It has been forever since he's been to my house. I'm going to babysit for a couple hours so my sister and BIL can go out and have a dinner all by themselves. :)

Do you guys ever get those horrible cramps in your calves when you're sleeping? I think they're called charlie horses? It's excruciating pain and you can't move your leg, but the only way to make the pain stop is to flex your calf muscle. I had one last night. OMG, it hurt so bad. My calf is still sore.

I think I'm being punished for not switching to New Blogger. I have been getting so many spam comments for the past few days! Is this happening to anyone else? Of course, if you don't get your comments emailed to you, you might not know because they spam really really old posts. I click on the link in the email and go and delete them. I've had 4 just today! Grrrr.

Edit- Make that 5. I got another one right after I published this post. *rolls eyes*

Hope you're all having a good weekend! *smooches*

Last night

Warning: This post has the potential to be long. It depends on how long I can keep my eyes open to type, I guess.

Ok, so as I've mentioned before, I have a mild case of insomnia. It takes me on average about 2 hours to fall asleep at night. My mind races and I toss and turn and it sucks. This week has been especially bad, because in addition to my normal insomnia, I've also been waking up several times during the night and not been able to fall back asleep. Yesterday I was dead tired. I told myself that I was going to go to bed at like 7pm. Sleeping for 12 hours would have felt so good. But of course last night was Wednesday night, and the Top Chef finale. Top Chef is one of my favorite shows, and I really didn't want to wait to see the finale, and I also didn't want to take the chance of getting spoiled today. But it’s on at 10pm, and I really didn’t want to stay up until 11. So then I thought maybe I’d go home and go to bed, wake up at 10 to watch the show, and then go back to sleep. Heh. Of course, when I got home I had to check my email again, do another blog round, check my bank account, etc., and before I knew it, it was 7:45. *sigh* I knew if I went to bed then, I wouldn’t be getting up at 10. So of course, I ended up staying awake until 11. (But yay! The person I picked from the very first show ended up winning Top Chef! That’s never happened to me before. *pats self on back*)

Alright, so it’s bedtime now. I wash my face, brush my teeth and go potty one last time so hopefully I won’t have to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. I fall into bed around 11:15. And the mind racing starts. Here is a rough transcript. *snort*

I can’t believe Carey said that she thinks I have an accent. That’s so weird. No one has ever told me that I have an accent before. That quiz that I took on Arkie’s blog said I didn’t have one. Heh. I should do one of those audio posts like she did. That was cool. Then I could ask everyone else if they think I have an accent. I bet Arkie would say that I have one.

It would be funny if I did a drunk audio post. Except I don’t think I really slur my words. I have such a high tolerance, it would take a ton of alcohol to get me that drunk. I’ll see how much I drink this weekend. Maybe if the mood strikes me…

American Idol was pretty funny tonight. Ya know, I bet I would be one of those delusional people who thinks they can sing ok, but then turns out to be horrible! I think I have an ok singing voice. I mean, obviously I know I’m not great or anything, and I would never in a million years try out for AI, but it would probably be a trainwreck. OMG! I should do an audio blog karaoke! That would be hilarious! I probably wouldn’t have the guts to actually do it, but it’s a fun idea. I wonder if other people would do it. We could have Blogger Idol! *snort* I bet no one else would do it though and I’d end up being the only one. Maybe I’ll throw the idea out there, though.

Hmm… what song would I sing? It’d have to be something that I’m comfortable with, but also something that everyone might recognize.
(Here I went through a bunch of songs, but never thought of a good one. I will spare you my options. Heh.)

There were a bunch more thoughts, but I’m getting sick of writing now, so I will move on to the next phase of my night. :)

The last time I remember seeing on the clock was 12:40, so I probably fell asleep somewhere around 1am.

During my brief sleep, I had a horrible nightmare. My friend Tracy and I were sleeping in twin beds in my mom's bedroom at her house. (Whenever I have dreams, they seem to take place at my mom’s house. *shrug*) This guy in a mask with a mechanical voice kept breaking in at night and leaving messages for us on these big easels in red and black lettering. I don’t remember the details of them all, but I know one of them said "We need to talk. See you soon." So he came that night and started talking to Tracy in his scary voice (I don't remember about what) and it was really creepy. As far as I can remember, he wasn’t saying anything threatening, but it was still very freaky. I was so fucking scared, I actually woke myself up because I was whimpering out loud. That’s never happened to me before. So once I woke up (it was 3:20am btw) I was too scared to get back to sleep. I was afraid to close my eyes and when I did, I kept expecting the man to come into my room. I slept very fitfully for the rest of the night, waking up frequently and I had a few more odd dreams. I was also very hot at certain points during the night, but I couldn't bring myself to kick off my comforter because I feel safer when I am all covered up. The boogeyman can't get me if I'm under the covers. *grin*

So all in all, I figure I got about 4 hours of sleep. *sigh* I swear, tonight I am going to bed by 8pm!!!!! No wonder I usually sleep for 12-13 hours on the weekends. My sleep patterns are so effed up. :(

Anyway, in closing, Blogger Idol! Who’s with me?? *grin*
