Melange

Thanks to thesaurus.com for the post title. What a cool sounding word. It's supposed to have the little accent mark above the first e, but I don't know how to do that. Anyway, it means mixture, potpourri, hodgepodge, etc. Maybe everyone else already knew that, but I'm getting stupider in my old age.

--Whatever happened to instant win bottle caps? Everything nowadays comes with some stupid little code that you have to go to a website and register to enter to even see if you won anything! It's ridiculous. I wonder if people actually take the time to do that. If not, the chances of winning might be better. Hmmm...

--My sister and BIL are having some trouble deciding on a name for the baby. It's going to be a boy, and the front running name right now is Aidan. Well, actually my sister said she would spell it Aiden, but that looks weird to me. My mom said she thought it was spelled Aden, which is just all kinds of wrong.

Amy also likes Conner for a name, and so do I (waves to Boo) but my BIL doesn't like it. Actually, at this point, he's pretty much closed off to any other names. No matter what we say, he will say he doesn't like it. He's stubborn and immature that way. *rolls eyes*

So anyway, you guys have any suggestions? I told her I would poll you all, and maybe you'd come up with a name they hadn't thought of. She doesn't want a "normal/boring" name like John or Jim (no offense to anyone who has named their child that, to each their own) and she doesn't want anything that starts with a T because she doesn't want matchy names like Tate and Tyler. They are considering Tyler for a middle name though. Oh, and their last name is two syllables, starts with H and ends with ing. Ideas?

--My mom and I went to Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Pier 1 last night. At Pier 1 they had these reed diffusers.

OMG, each scent was better than the last. They smelled soooo good. They had them spread out all over the store and I kept discovering new scents every time I turned a corner. They were $12 and I didn't want to spend that much money, but my mom said she would buy me one. I didn't put up a fight. :) I got the Mad Love. "a memorable affair of black and red raspberry fragrances with essences of peach, strawberry, coconut, lime zest, vanilla bean, and creamy cassis." Yum.my. They also had 2 scents that are a standard favorite of mine. They were named Aqua and Downpour. I think you can imagine what they smelled like. I always say anything with the word ocean, water, or rain in it will most likely be something I would love. They didn't have any in lavender though, which is my absolute fav scent.

On the way to the checkout we came across this wine rack thingy that had an Asian flair to it. (Darn it. Couldn't find a pic.) A piece of it had broken off, so they were selling it for $4, originally $30. A deal too good to pass up, no? My living room has a lot of Asian touches and I thought this would look cool somewhere. I probably won't use it for a wine rack. It doesn't hold boxes of wine, so it's useless to me for that. *grin* I just have to glue the piece back together and then find somewhere to put it. Ugh. I said I wasn't going to buy any more useless junk to take up room on my tables. Guess I lied. But I'm planning on hanging a lot of the picture frames I have sitting around, so that will free up some table space.

-- I was supposed to go to the grocery store after work, but I was wiped out. So instead I came home, fixed myself a cocktail, and I will be playing on the computer and watching movies for the rest of the night. Soooooo much better than going to the grocery. And I have something to make for dinner (pork chops and mashed potatoes) so it wasn't absolutely necessary that I went tonight anyway. /rationalization.

--I tried to use bullet points for this blog entry, but they were messing up my formatting. So you get two dashes instead.

--Hope everyone has a good weekend!

You are so cute!

Ok, so on names, what about Braden? Liam? Umm...Jordan? I don't know. Those were the only semi-uncommon names I could think of from the kids class.

After describing your reed diffuser, I think I need to have it. The one you got sounds wonderful!

No, you're so cute! :)

LOL! BIL was pushing for Braden, but everyone vetoed it.

I'm drinking coconut rum (not malibu, but close enough) and diet pepsi. I think of you with every sip. *giggle*

I like names that are not the norm. Michelle and I always had no problem agreeing on names if we were to ever have children.
Our frontrunners were:
Max
Jackson (but call him Jax)
Sam

I also like Xavier, Devon and Quinn.

Wow, a list. And wow, you are quite chatty today. Are you practicing for Tuesday????

*whacks your BIL for not liking Conner*

I too like different names, and I love last names for first names (*hides from Coco*).

Let's see:

Carson
Carter
Corban
Brady
Kyle
Spencer

I'll have to think of more and come back.

And I love Jackson, but I would probably shorten it to Jack. And I love Ryan. I would probably name a son Jack Ryan and call him Jack Ryan.

We have a lot of the same tastes, Boo. I also love last names for first names, and suggested most of those on your list. I also like Parker and Jefferson. My two all time favorite boy names are Ryan and Joshua.

I came back because I forgot about Griffin. That was actually my first choice, but we lived on Griffin Avenue, so it didn't work. Then Carter didn't work because of our last name.

I also like Tucker and Tanner.

I like Aidan, Nathan, Gavin, Hunter and John. (those are the names Shawn would have to pick from should we ever have a son ~ though I'd likely use John as a middle name because it would probably end up awkward for some if I used it as a first name) So really, your sister couldn't use any of those names. *grin* (I'm kidding of course.) I like Jackson. I might have to add that to Shawn's choices.

I love those reed infusers. I didn't know Pier 1 had them. The one you got sounds delicious.

*smooch*

OMG! I forgot Benjamin! That's tied for my numero uno boy name choice (with Gavin).

Ryan is tops for my girl name choices.

Bravie said...

Ohhhh, Benjamin was one of ours too. I forgot about that one.

I like Ryan for a girl too Glowie. For the longest time I wanted to name a girl "Malorie Ryan."

I was going to suggest Jordan too. *waves to MM*

I have one of those smelly reed diffusers!!! *waves to Augie*

Evan, Logan, Ethan, Nicholas, Christian, Aaron, Lukas (grin), Jared (grin), Taylor (grin)

Jen said...

I like Ethan. I think that is on their "list to consider".
I know when I hear the name Jared I should automatically think Leto, but instead I think Subway Guy. LOL.

I like Ethan too. Ethan Michael flows. So does Ethan Conner.

Aden is my mother's maiden name. Now you can all steal my credit cards. :-)

Parker and Truman were names Meemo was considering. I like those.

I like my reed diffuser, however, I can't find a refill. *pout* Did Pier One have refills?

Jen said...

Woohoo! Shopping spree on Kim! :)

No, they didn't have refills. I guess you have to buy the whole shebang each time. Bastards.

I'm so glad I'm done with baby names! I always had an idea for the girls names, but had trouble with the boys names. If the girls had been boys, this is what thier names would've been:

Matthew David Clayton lastname
Scott David Clayton lastame
Ryan David Clayton lastname

If I were a boy, my mom would've named me:

Hunter Briggs lastname

I like many of the names the others have posted. If I think of anything different, I'll be back later.

*smooch*
